Welcome autumn
Just like outside, autumn has also arrived at our veterinary practice Dalbe.
Autumn not only brings us a beautiful new decoration with many great toys and treats, but also our two new employees, whom we will introduce to you in more detail in the "Team" section.
Opening hours August 1st
The practice will be closed from Wednesday, July 31, through August 2 due to the national holiday.
We will be open again on August 5 as usual, eager for knowledge Starting in August 2024, the Dalbe Veterinary Practice will be an official training company. We look forward to introducing our new trainee to you in detail soon.

Dear Clients and Furry Friends,
Please take note that our practice will be treated to an involuntary soundtrack of excavators, jackhammers, and construction site radios. The construction site @ Lange Gasse will be serenading us with its unique musical performances in the coming months.
We apologize in advance for the noise and inconvenience. Access to the practice will of course be ensured at all time and don't worry, our team is well-prepared: earplugs have been ordered, and our furry patients will get extra treats for calming purposes if needed.
Beware that parking options are difficult, so please allow extra time or consider using public transportation.
We promise to do our best to make your visit as pleasant as possible despite the construction jazz.

Newest member to our Vet family
Selina Thomas has been supporting our team since September 2023. She grew up in the neighborhood named "Dalbe." After completing her high school education at Gymnasium am Münsterplatz, she moved to Bern to study veterinary medicine. Following the completion of her studies, she worked as a doctoral student in the Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, earning her doctoral degree in the summer of 2023.
Despite her studies and work in Bern, her heart never stopped beating for Basel. She returned to her hometown and has been enriching our team ever since. For her, this also completes a circle, as her family cats have been regular and satisfied patients at the Dalbe Veterinary Practice for quite some time.
In addition to her love for Basel, Selina's heart beats for all animals, big and small. With a lot of love and joy in her profession, she enjoys taking care of your four-legged friends.

”Dalbe” where does that name come from?

„Dalbe“ where does this name originate from?
Dalbe is a short form for Saint Alban, which today is mostly known as a neighborhood of Basel.
But its actual origins date back to medieval times, when the first monastery of Basel was erected in the 8th century. The church and the monastery were later named after a Saint called Alban. However the legend about the beheaded martyr remains vague. To date it is unclear weather it was Saint Alban of England, Mainz or even a local one.
The earthquake of 1356 and a city fire in 1417 brought changes in basic structure of the building but St. Albans Church still enriches Basels old town alongside several other monuments that carry the name (St. Alban Tor, St. Albanteich…).
Located in this very neighborhood our practice is proud to carry a name that comes with such a rich history.

COVID19 Update…

Lockdown regulations due to the COVID19 Situation are slowly starting to bring us back to our normal lives.
Therefore we will be able to offer normal veterinary services at our clinic starting May 4th.
Of course we are taking all necessary precautions to provide best possible protection for both our clients and our team.
We have installed plexiglas shields at our front desk and are equipped with masks, gloves and sanitizer.
We also offer the option of video consultation!

Our amazing pharmacy is now on site - WOW ! We are beyond happy! Just a few things - including medications - that are missing. We will soon be filling up those empty shelves…

Today the furniture for the reception area has been delivered and is about to be mounted on site @ Lange Gasse 49 ! Slowly but surely and piece by piece we are getting closer to our grand opening in May! Exciting times ahead!!
The Practice

The Dalbevet Practice is located in a beautiful old town house in Basel. everything is still under reconstruction but things are progressing and the team will move in starting April first. We will get everything ready so we can start seeing our patients from beginning of May 2020!
